And it seems they haven't dropped the NFT aspect of it either. I mean I periodically visit my parents, who tend to leave Fox on throughout the day, so I've been seeing a ton of ads for this in the past month alone. ![]() KRAPOPOLIS RELEASING SOON I haven't touched on Fox's NFT-vehicle in quite some t- ime, but if you have the Fox network on in any capacity recently you've been inund- ated with commercials for Dan Harmon's Greek satire Krapopolis, arriving to the network September 24th. It's a funny juxtaposition in a way, if you head to Volitions website and go to their news page, they have a post celebrating their 30th year, and then one month later is their goodbye post, with visible code and a placeholder. The failures of both the Saints Row reboot and the Gollum game no doubt had Embracer looking to tighten their belts, and following an announcement regarding a large restructuring within the company, Volition found itself shuttering the doors. behind the Descent, Red Faction, and Saints Row series. VOLITION SHUT DOWN More on the video game side of things, but massive IP-guzzling titan Embracer Group has shut down Volition, the game studio II. Most will remember that Annapurna Animation's first production was picking up the pieces of Nimona, which released earlier this year, and now they've set their sights on their popular, if fleeting in the public consciousness, indie game. Because we are now apparently getting a cartoon feature adaptation, courtesy of Annapurna's new animation division that they announced last December. STRAY GETS A MOVIE Hopefully you haven't already forgotten about 2022's Stray, from game company Annapurna. This doesn't mean that they also are on strike, at least not yet, this is just to give the Board authority to issue a strike if they don't like how the negotiations go. This is of course accompanying the current writerfactor strike that is still ongoing, and pertains in this case to actors that lend their craft to video games. The companies directly effected include such titans as Activision, WB Games, Epic, and Insomniac, to only name a few. ![]() Man, lots of animated stuff I want to see coming out in December it seems! ADULT SWIM AND LAZARUS SAG-AFTRA's National Boa- rd voted successfully to send a strike authorization to SAG-AFTRA members re- garding various video game companies in lieu of the up- coming union contract nego- tiation dates. Netflix has plans for the film to release December 15th this year. And overall, I think e- veryone sounds perfectly fine, though it has been over 2 decades since the original released and about 5 years since I last watched it. But finally Netflix has actually dropped the trailer to the feature, and we have an opportunity to hear the Mel Gibson and Julia Sawalha stand-in's. NEW CHICKEN RUN TRAILER Netflix announced it's sequ- al to Chicken Run, titled Chi- cken Run: Dawn of the Nugget quite while ago, and fairly recently the nume- rous recasts of the main characters were also annou- nced. Once again Hayao Miyazaki has stated this is final directorial effort, but I'll believe it when I see it. Seems he keeps feeling he has to come back as his son Gore fails to live up to his expectations (I liked From Up on Poppy Hill, just put that out there). The film is hand-drawn and is Hayao Miyazaki's first film in a decade, having sworn off the medium multiple times. The date being later this year, December Sth (I'll make sure I'm there!). 1d 203 25 ANIMATION NEWS Roundup HERON GETS A US RELEASE It's been planned from the beginning, of course, but we finally have an actual state-side release date for Studio Ghibli's The Boy and the Heron courtesy of GKIDS. ![]()
